Missouri I ordered a new micro usb cable to try first. While traveling having to carry an extra cable for this drive is dumb and I will get rid of the drive as soon as I can. At the price, it is hard to beat when adding in quality and capacity. The drive is an excellent storage solution for users who are on the move. There would be no logical gain by encrypting the data just for storage. Other than the WD software Great plug and play harddrive.

However, the new Passports come with a different micro USB socket for some reason, which means yet another cable I need to carry about. I am not happy that now I have to carry around an additional cable only for this drive.

I also read somewhere that if it was mid file tranfer and it got disconnected by pulling the usb without stopping the device first, then that could have corrupted the partition. For mac users, plugging in the drive for time machine frees up memory because the mac will automatically wipe out WD’s software. I have read of the many failures of these types of drives and thought I would ask what the best next step should wdaaa5000abk-00.
